Panasonic Intros DMC-GX7 Camera and Fast, f/1.2 Micro Four Thirds Prime Lens

In addition to the standard exposure modes and HD video, the GX7 adds new filter effects including Rough and Silky (softer) monochrome options. It also has the ability to use yellow, orange, red and green filters on monochrome to simulate the filter/black and white combination shot on film, bringing the total Creative Control functions up to a total of 22. The GX7 also features creative panorama, time lapse, stop motion and clear retouch. Interestingly, Panasonic—whose lens optical image stabilization, we think, is quite effective—has added sensor-shift IS to the GX7, so it can maintain stabilization even when used with older, non-image stabilized lenses. However, when paired with an OIS lens, the lens stabilization takes priority over the in-camera stabilizer.

What Can 3D Printing Do For You?
Shane Glenn, Staratasys vice president of investor relations said. Indeed, UPS polled 86 small business owners online, and the results “showed high interest in trying the services, particularly for those needing to create prototypes, artistic renderings, or promotional materials.” Michelle Van Slyke, vice president of marketing and small business solutions at the UPS store added that “start-ups, entrepreneurs, and small business owners may not have the capital to purchase a 3D printer on their own, but they may have a need to show prototypes to their current and potential customers. By offering 3D printing capabilities in-center, we’re able to help further our small business customers’ opportunities for success.”

Corel Announces PaintShop Pro X6
Interestingly, the research study conducted by Corel took place before Adobe’s Creative Cloud was introduced but Corel was thinking along the same subscription-based line. As part of the study, Corel asked its users what they thought about a subscription-based delivery model for PaintShop Pro. The response was very clear: users wanted PaintShop Pro to remain a perpetual license product. And, Corel listened, so you can purchase the software outright with no subscription required. Corel did, however, introduce a standard membership program, which is free with the purchase of a perpetual license product. Membership takes the place of registration, although members will have to register on an annual basis.

Nikon Launches Pocket-sized Speedlight
Coverage is 18mm in DX and 27mm in FX but it will certainly be dwarfed by Nikon FX cameras like the D4 and D800. On the other hand, a Speedlight that can fit in your pocket, and costs only around $150, looks like a good option for compact cameras like the Nikon Coolpix A or the Nikon Coolpix P7700. The Nikon SB-300 will retail for $150 and is scheduled to ship in August.

3D Printer saves baby’s life.
The splint was produced in 3D print material Polycarprolactone (PCL), a material often used in medical applications including filler to close gaps left in the skill following brain surgery. As PCL degrades over time yet is strong enough to offer the necessary support there will be no need to operate to remove the stint once the bronchus has healed in the proper position. 15 months on from surgery Kaiba is doing well and can now breathe on his own. No official policy on bio-printing body parts has been agreed by the FDA however as 3D printing technology becomes increasingly sophisticated it is likely that a decision will be required sooner rather than later.
